Rey Baboota will lead a community discussion about the medicinal power of honey. As a local beekeeper and wellness seeker, she is passionate about connecting with the natural world as a means of healing. Bees have much to offer, especially raw honey, which provides an array of benefits like immune support, tissue repair, and more.

Together, we will explore the qualities to look for in honey, its apitherapy applications, and practical ways to incorporate it into your home wellness routine. Homegrown Hives!

Beloved Teacher

Rey Baboota

Rey Baboota’s passion for honeybees began in college and deepened during graduate school, where she explored using innovative technologies to teach elementary students about bees. Inspired by her enthusiasm, Rey’s father also began beekeeping. Together, they are building a family legacy rooted in their shared love for honeybees.

With a master’s degree in early childhood education and teaching experience in Fairfax County Public Schools, Rey now brings her two greatest loves - teaching and beekeeping - together through Homegrown Hives, where she offers concierge beekeeping and honeybee education. Through neighborhood-embedded hives and youth education, she strives to promote pollinator health for the benefit of our entire ecosystem.

To Rey, honeybees are more than pollinators - they are teachers and healers who offer lessons about our planet, our communities, and even ourselves. Rey is their lifelong student and enjoys exploring the spiritual, mental, and physical benefits of the hive for the ultimate betterment of her own community.
