Temple Yoga Retreat with Doug Keller and Yuki Riley in Kyoto, Japan

Kyoto, Japan • Apr 29 - May 5 2027

Six Days at the Chion-In Temple from Thursday, April 29 - Wednesday, May 5, 2027

"Ichi-go, Ichi-e," rooted in the Japanese Tea Ceremony, means "a once-in-a-lifetime encounter."

This retreat will offer the extraordinary lifetime experience of living in a Buddhist temple lodge, exploring its preserved culture, and connecting with the compassionate local communities. The temple lodge allows visitors to participate in early morning rituals, including offering incense, listening to the monks chant, and hearing bells and drums. Kyoto, an ancient capital of Japan, is home to well-preserved historic buildings and cultures that welcome and inspire visitors.

Our retreat offers a perfect combination of a grounding yoga practice, group cultural activities (Kimono & Tea ceremony, cooking class, etc.), and still leaves you enough free time to explore the local area as you wish. The daily yoga practice will be led by Doug, and he will offer some philosophy conversation during the temple dinner time. Yuki, born and raised in Japan, will teach some morning yoga classes and also support your travel and cultural inquiries. She will be available for an info session in March and July, 2026.
