Qi Gong for Autumn: Zhang Fu Gong / Organ Cleansing Qi Gong

Continuing our Qi Gong for Autumn series, we will deepen our work with Qi (energy or prana) and focus on gentle movements and massage for the organ systems, also known as “acupuncture without the needles.” As we approach the colder season and the yin cycle, we are invited to slow things down, to look within, and open up to our inner wisdom. This is a time to detox our body and our mind by letting go of any things, ideas and goals that do not serve us any longer and to clear some space for being in the now. Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Taoist philosophy, Autumn is associated with the metal element and is connected to the organs and meridians of the lungs and the large intestines. During this 3-week series, we will practice:

  • Breathing exercises to invite the release of physical, emotional, and mental tensions.

  • Sound vibrations and movements to release any Qi blockages.

  • Flowing movements to balance excess and deficient Qi.

  • Gentle self-massage to nourish the organs.

  • Meditation with Himalayan singing bowls tuned to the corresponding vibrational frequency of the organs.

All levels are welcome. All movements can be practiced seated.
