Restorative Yoga is a gentle therapeutic style of yoga that uses props to support the body in restful still positions. This five-week restorative yoga class series with Sherry Steine combines seasonal wisdom and the five elements from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with restorative yoga postures to restore the central nervous system and the internal systems of the body.
In TCM there are five elements, wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, that are used to help us understand the world around us and the world within us. In this series, we will explore each of the five elements as we look at balancing and reclaiming our inner soul medicine through restorative shapes to deeply relax and release, aligned with the cycles of nature. Each session will explore an element’s emotion as it relates to the restorative practice.
Each class will include breath, movement, discussion, journaling and a Q&A.
Week1: Water Element - create an oasis within yourself, connect to your source
Week 2: Wood Element - express yourself, your purpose has power
Week 3: Fire Element -you are whole, open your heart
Week 4: Earth Element - find your center, your body is a temple
Week 5: Metal Element - be present, you are precious, let it go
