Eileen Kurtz

Eileen brings to her classes a contagious enthusiasm for all areas of health and wellness.  Consciousness is a construct that helps define us as humans. Self-awareness allows us access to our consciousness and is developed through the habitualities of our practice. This proposition is the essence of her class.

Eileen loves to help students move with greater awareness and to feel freedom through release, mobility, stability and strength. Her students learn to improve patterns of movement, feel at ease, and create positive habits and change.

A California native, Eileen earned a BS in Exercise Science from the University of Southern California, completed her Flow Yoga 200 hr YTT, and continues to learn from teachers at Beloved Yoga and East Meets West; and through teacher trainings, workshops, research and personal practice.

She has studied vinyasa and yin yoga, Indian club training, myofascial release, and strength and conditioning.  She never misses an opportunity to learn from different practitioners and pass along helpful information to her students. Eileen is currently studying with Ganesh Mohan to complete a 500 hour Svastha Yoga Therapy Program.

In 2007, Eileen founded Functional Fitness to offer yoga and functional strength and conditioning in individual, team, and small group formats.  She has trained hundreds of students over the last decade, including youth and college athletes, homemakers, and members of elite law enforcement and military units.
