Kelsey Sawyer MA, BC-DMT is a board certified dance movement therapist, 200-Hour certified yoga teacher, and a certified Grief Yoga® teacher. As a dedicated ballet dancer for over 20 years, Kelsey was exposed to yoga at a young age to further develop her strength and flexibility. As she continued to pursue yoga throughout her undergraduate and graduate school experience, she realized that much like dance, yoga possesses therapeutic qualities due to the emphasis on movement, breath, and the mind, body, spirit connection.
Kelsey received her 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2016 with Boston Yoga School led by Ame Wren and Tiffany Cagwin. Through her yoga training she learned that by focusing on alignment and linking breath to movement, one can access the full potential of the body and become more present and connected to the heart. She went on to receive her Master of Arts at Lesley University for Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Dance Movement Therapy in 2019. During the pandemic, Kelsey completed Paul Denniston’s Advanced Grief Yoga® Teacher Training where she further developed the skills to help individuals access their grief and emotions in the body through movement, breath, and sound.
The significant impact yoga has had on her life and her grief is what continues to inspire Kelsey to dig deeper into the yoga lifestyle and share these benefits with others. Kelsey’s classes support the development of internal awareness and self-compassion with a focus on body alignment and movement guided by the breath, in order to foster physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.
When Kelsey isn’t teaching or attending a Beloved Yoga class, you can find her out walking in nature, spending time with the important people in her life, or enjoying a nice cup of tea.
