Tom came to yoga a few years ago after suffering panic attacks due to high anxiety and derealization. He searched for a way to become grounded, mindful and have a sense of safety in his own body. Yoga was the recommended tool. He met with a certified trauma-informed teacher at Beloved Yoga who provided him with the tools of feeling safe in his own body again and, due to this, he earned his own trauma-informed certification. Through breath work, body movement, and self-affirmations, Tom found solace and comfort in his being.
Additionally, due to the number of physical injuries he has, Tom never thought he would be able to do yoga at all. What he found was a world open to everyone. Yes, yoga is for everyone. "Yoga meets you where you are at!" "Yoga is for everybody!" Tom was inspired by this loving, caring and all-inclusive philosophy to share this with others. In 2019, he entered the 200-hour yoga teacher training at Beloved Yoga.
Tom feels that it is important to look across the room at your students with care, and make sure everyone feels safe and welcome during the practice. Tom believes yoga is not about judgments, comparisons, or competition. Yoga is about your personal expression on the mat. Yoga gives the practitioner the space to truly be themselves without fear. Tom has also completed his 500HR teacher training and subsequent certification at Beloved Yoga and currently teaches Hatha, and Yin Yoga.
