Vinyasa is a dynamic flow-style class with an emphasis on breath and balancing steadiness and ease in your body, mind, and soul. Practitioners will build strength, gain flexibility, and improve balance. Customizations will always be offered and encouraged as practitioners explore alignment suitable for their individual needs. This class will offer physical and mental challenges, skillful alignment, and will be supported by an essential intention or bhavana. These classes are geared toward most levels of practice, and more complex asanas, including arm balances and inversions will be offered.

Tori Daniel

Victoria “Tori” Daniel believes that yoga is a practice for realizing our true potential. As each of us accesses our own inner knowing and purpose, we can show up with greater confidence, love, and joy in our relationships, work or personal pursuits, and community. We can become our own loving guide.

Tori’s perspective on yoga as a tool for transformation and healing stems from her experience as a manager, talent coach, and wellness practitioner in the US Government for 15 years. She blends yoga, neuroscience, and principles for emotional intelligence to help others find their own unique purpose and strengths. Beloved has been at the heart of her personal experience with yoga for emotional healing and leadership. She completed the 200-hour teacher training under the mentorship of Beloved instructor Jamilee Wagenseil and continues to draw inspiration from her mentor Maryam Ovissi. Tori is in the process of completing her 500-hour teacher training and regularly studies with leading yoga instructors, including Shari Friedrichsen, at the Himalayan Institute (HI).

Tori is particularly interested in the healing power of the breath and likes to invite students into a deeper exploration of the subtle body and key energy centers, or chakras, believing each of them offers a journey to unlock hidden capacities. She tends to teach gentle and creative flows that offer Beginners and students of all levels the tools to slow down so we can really pause and connect with ourselves. She also loves music and poetry to quiet the mind and awaken the spirit.

When she’s not on the mat, she enjoys spending time with her husband Steven and little cat Sherlock, exploring nature, or writing and creating art.

Kate Finkelstein

Kate Finkelstein began practicing yoga after an injury prevented her from pursuing her passion for distance-running. Kate was first attracted to the seemingly endless challenges a physical yoga practice offers and soon became aware that a regular yoga practice also offers concrete mental and emotional direction and support. She believes that her yoga practice helps her be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and whole person.

Kate completed her 200-hour certification at Beloved Yoga with Jafar Alexander, Sharra Cielo, and Maryam Ovissi. In her classes, Kate offers practitioners the opportunity to explore the strengths they already have and to become curious about all the possibilities they carry within themselves.

Michelle Brown

Michelle first explored yoga as a physical complement to her love of sports, particularly tennis. But she came to cherish the practice for its healing and transformative qualities such as clarity, compassion and a deep sense of peace.

With a background in education, teaching yoga is a culmination of Michelle’s passion for movement and connection. Her classes and individual sessions are thoughtfully taught through a therapeutic lens. It is her deep belief that yoga should feel good to the body, mind and heart.

When she’s not on her yoga mat, Michelle can be found gardening, cooking, hiking or on the tennis court.

Dante Baker

Dante Baker has been a native to the Washington DC area his entire life, growing up in Reston, VA. Since his childhood years, Dante has always had a fascination with the human anatomy and all of its abilities to heal, move, and process. This interest led Dante to studying and receiving a variety of personal training and massage therapy certifications. Through Dante’s own personal life experience and the influence of family and peers, he embarked on a journey that would ultimately move him in the direction of providing health on a more holistic level. In 2011, Dante was introduced to transcendental meditation by Dr. Mahapatra Gyanendra one of the personal physicians of the Mararishi meditation course. This practice shined a light on his own inner stillness that he never experienced before at that time.

Dante was fascinated by the Eastern philosophies such as Chinese medicine and enrolled in a nine month Qi Gong and Tai Chi Ball certification with Master Nianzu Li (L.Ac) in 2013. He went on to strengthen his Qi Gong practice and began to teach personal clients as well as larger classes at various health studios.  The passion to discover different modalities of holistic health lead him to discover Singing Bowls and Tibetan bowl in 2013. By linking up with different yoga instructors like Atticus Mooley, he integrated singing bowls into yoga classes as a unique way to allow students to find deeper levels of meditation during savasana.  Being a part of many different yoga classes inspired him to take a 200-hour Yoga certification from SOYA(Canada) in January of 2016. As a E-RYT 200 Yoga Instructor, Dante holds CEU courses around the D.C Metropolitan area teaching other yoga instructors how to play sacred instruments and use their voice to create vibratory frequencies that promotes wellness.

For Dante, Yoga is much more than just a form of exercise; it is a path that opens the doors to explore the mind, body and spirit. Students in Dante’s class are directed to stay focus on creating proper alignment within the asana and to consciously relax into each posture. Challenging asanas are suggested but never forced upon anyone, and modifications are always demonstrated to ensure that everyone can participant no matter what level they are at. At the end of class, students leave feeling physically restored and mentally rejuvenated.

Daniela Puertas

Daniela completed her 200 & 300-hour teacher training at Beloved Yoga under the mentorship of Maryam Ovissi & Heather Hagaman. She is a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance.

Daniela believes in the transformational process of rediscovering yourself through yoga. She views yoga as a tool to create greater harmony within ourselves and the world. Daniela is inspired by the science of movement & creates a safe space to encourage playful exploration of breath and movements. Her classes are centered around the cultivation of self-awareness and compassion.

Alyson Maclatchy

Aly believes that yoga wakes us up! Yoga invites us to embrace ourselves as whole beings while encouraging us to refine; always. It is the way we engage with everything that informs and empowers the way we live. She also believes deeply in the medicine inherent in the natural world that is accessible by simply paying attention.

Aly received her 200 hour certification through Frog Lotus International Yoga School under Vidya Heisel. She completed a 72 hour anatomy intensive from the Anatomy School for Yoga Teachers in New York under Jason Brown. Aly will always consider herself first and foremost a student of yoga and of being a teacher of yoga. She attends classes, workshops, intensives, and trainings whenever possible. Her teaching continues to be influenced by teachers like Marni Sclaroff, Tara Judelle, Elena Brower, Tiffany Cruikshank, and Darren Rhodes.

As a teacher, Aly intends to create a safe space that encourages practitioners to have an experience of themselves. Her classes are intelligently sequenced and infused with intention, breath awareness, body alignment, and lots of smiles.

You will most likely find Aly in the woods, dancing, studying “green witcheries”, meditating, or being a goofball with her son, Tommy. Visit Aly online at www.gratefullyrooted.com.

Marni Sclaroff

Marni Sclaroff has been teaching and practicing yoga since 1996.  She has a vast experience, and she has completed thousands of hours of in-depth training in Jivamukti Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Ansuara Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Tibetan Buddhism, Thai Massage, Ayurveda, and Tantra. She spent 3 years in deep apprenticeship with her mentor and teacher Sianna Sherman.  She was also a professional belly dancer for many years, which awakened in her the power of the sacred feminine as a force of embodied wisdom, beauty, and creative inspiration.

In all of her offerings, you will experience the woven threads of mythology, soulful journeying, intelligent rhythmic unfolding, the power of aligned action, energetic wisdom from a deep and true lineage, embodied transmission, and a light-hearted sense of wonder and curiosity.

Marni leads workshops, retreats, mentoring programs, and teacher trainings throughout the US and abroad. She is also a writer and speaker on the transformative power of living yoga and embodying soul.  You can find out more about her on her website, www.marnisclaroff.com

Stephanie Baird

Stephanie started practicing Yoga in 1996 as a purely asana practice. It wasn't until she found Beloved Yoga in 2009 that she began to explore the full depth of the practice. She completed her 200HR teacher training at Beloved in 2016 and her 500HR TT in 2021. She mentored with Aly MacLatchy and discovered the joy of sharing her Yoga practice with fellow practitioners. Maryam Ovissi continues to be a major influence on her teaching style and an inspiration in general.

Stephanie teaches a strenuous flow style of Yoga where the focus is on aligning breath with slow movements, holding asanas and moving with awareness. She truly believes that there is a Yoga class that will suit every person and that Yoga can help each practitioner find the tools they need to live in harmony with their body, their mind and their emotions. She often counsels practitioners to try multiple styles of Yoga until they find the one that resonates deeply in them.

Yoga is not a practice for the flexible, it is a practice to gain flexibility in the body and resiliency in the mind.

Stephanie also loves exploring the world with her family and her dog, Peyton, through travel, food, hiking, books and film.

Adam Grossi

Adam's passion for yoga emerges from his experience of being deeply calmed, healed, and transformed by its techniques and philosophy over the course of his adult life. Adam teaches practices which weave physical sensation, mental focus, and poetic imagination into a tapestry capable of support, healing, and transformation. His intent is to create space for students to find their true teacher, the one that already exists within themselves.

Adam currently studies with Yoli Maya Yeh, Portia Richardson, and Elesa Commerse. He is grateful for the decade he spent studying with Jim Bennitt and James Tennant, and continues to glean wisdom from Richard Freeman.

When not on the mat, Adam maintains a rigorous creative practice in painting, drawing, and writing. The second edition of his book Wind Through Quiet Tensions, a memoir about his experiences with mental health and the therapeutic potential of yoga, was published by Candor Arts in 2015. As a teacher Adam’s intention is for students to walk out the door with increased energy, focus, and inspiration for whatever challenges life might hold for them. Learn more at http://adamgrossi.com

Maryam Ovissi

Maryam Ovissi, MA C-IAYT E-RYT 500, RCYT, RPYT, YACEP

Trauma Informed Yoga Therapist

"Yoga is a proven system and philosophy that provides tools for the individual to develop a self-care routine that meets them where they are. As a teacher, I am only the guide.”

Maryam is a certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and under the tutelage of Bhekaji Lynch, she received her 500-hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) accreditation with Yoga Alliance. Honoring the lineage and teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya, Maryam upholds the principle that the Yoga practice is a personal and individual journey and not a one-size-fits-all practice. Although A.G. Mohan, Indra Mohan and Dr. Ganesh Mohan continue to serve as her main teachers, she claims nothing can replace the gifts and wisdom born forth by showing up for herself every day through Sadhana (personal practice). She continues to study with renowned teachers in the world of Yoga. Maryam’s personal mission as a teacher of Yoga is to provide an opportunity for her students to have access to tools that allow self-healing, self-empowerment and self-realization. Her unique style provides space for multi-level practitioners to journey through Yoga in group, semi-private and private classes. In her private Yoga teaching, Yogic tools are offered that serve the person and their personal intentions.

Exemplifying the Yogic life off the mat and beyond the studio, Beloved Yoga is dedicated to giving back to the commUnity, partnering with many outreach programs including the Remakery, Cornerstones, the Southgate Community Center and the Teen Center of Fairfax County. Maryam founded and is co-director of Love Your Body Day, an annual free event held since 2008 at the Reston Town Center bringing together local area yoga studios, wellness practitioners, eco-conscious vendors, and Bhakti music for a fun day of healthy activities for the whole family.

Maryam's personal expertise is in integrating yoga therapy into cancer care. She works as a Yoga Therapist at Inova Schar Cancer Institute- Life with Cancer as well as the MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Maryam’s love expands to embrace the creative spirit. She is the founding Trustee for the Ovissi Foundation, dedicated to supporting artists of Iranian heritage. Maryam makes time to explore creativity in her own life through writing poetry and mark making. She released Soundscapes to Contemplate, a compilation CD of her poetry set to conscious electronic mantra music by artist and producer Saeed Younan.

Kristina Davies

When Kristina first took a yoga class in 2011, she felt that yoga was what she had been looking for all her life. She loves the calm, focus, and strength that she gains from yoga. Drawn to the balance between effort and ease, challenge and rest, she loves how yoga has taught her to be compassionately present both on the mat and in the world. In 2018 she completed her RYT-200 training at Red Brick Yoga in Greensburg, PA. In her class, yogis will  be encouraged to focus on the breath and its ability to allow us to encounter the present moment. Kristina is dedicated to deepening her personal practice and to accompanying her students on their own yoga journey.
