$30.00 Healing with Tibetan Mantras: An Introductory Workshop and Kirtan
Mantra healing (ngakchö rigpa) is an ancient practice from the “spiritual healing” branch of Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan medicine), traditionally used as a complementary therapy to broader medical treatments. Practitioners of mantra healing use specific Tibetan and Sanskrit mantras to initiate healing states, remove subtle body blockages, and restore balance and energetic flow at physical, mental, and subtle levels. There are hundreds of mantras within the Sowa Rigpa “mantra pharmacy”--ranging from mantras for depression to mantras for a “happy heart” to mantras that support ease in childbirth--and each has its own energetic and vibratory frequency. So, in contemporary terms, mantra healing could be described as subtle body sound healing and energy healing. We are using the vibrations of the mantra to affect the vibrations of our own physical, mental, and subtle body systems to restore balance, maintain health, cultivate peace, and prevent future illnesses and imbalances.
In this workshop, we will learn the basic principles behind mantra healing, including the concepts of Independent Origination and the profound benefits of purifying one’s “speech.” We'll also learn and practice Vajra Chanting and the Ali mantra to prepare us for the powerful mantras we'll chant. During the kirtan, we will practice several healing mantras together, singing them in the call-and-response style.
This is a precious and unique opportunity to experience action mantras, learn how to reclaim sovereignty over our physical health and mental well-being, and understand at a subtle level what it means to become co-creators of our realities. Plus, Lee has a warm and relatable teaching style with the ability to transmit these esoteric Tibetan teachings in a way that is accessible and comprehensible to students of all ages. No experience is required. All are welcome.
