Yasmine Aquino
In 2015, after several years of experience in various executive administration and program management roles in the Washington, D.C. area, Yasmine found the doorway to the non-profit sector by joining the AmeriCorps program. Upon completion of the program, under a grant-funded position, she developed the Volunteer Corps and After-School Tutoring Program for the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office Truancy Prevention Program. Her last job before retiring was Program Manager at the Interfaith Network of Montgomery County under the leadership of the County Executive. While there, she worked on various programs to foster unity across different faiths in the county and coordinated efforts with various faith leaders to help individuals and communities in crisis.
Yasmine retired in 2023. Today, 23 years since her very first yoga class, she enjoys being a lifelong student of yoga and picking up lessons and nuggets of wisdom from her teachers and daily life experiences. She is grateful every day for the beautiful Reston community she lives in, including the Beloved Sangha.
Yasmine believes in the power of community and the power of human connection, and as someone who has journaled for as long as she can remember, Yasmine is excited to share space with others to write, connect and get inspired.
Allison Caras
Allison has been on the yoga path for more than 20 years and feels she has only begun to scratch the surface of its depth and wisdom. She approaches the practice with humility, reverence, and playful curiosity, and brings those same qualities to her classes. She teaches Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra as well as private classes, and is part of the management team at Beloved. She is currently enrolled in the Svastha Yoga & Ayurveda 800-hour Yoga Therapy Certification Program.
In addition to her yoga studies, Allison holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics in Spanish from Georgetown University and has since taught at George Washington University. During the pandemic, she felt called to leave academia and found her own company dedicated to promoting workplace well-being through the wisdom, science, and art of Yoga and Ayurveda. While she no longer teaches languages or conducts linguistic research, she remains deeply interested in the ways language can foster human connection, self-awareness, and meaningful reflection.
For Allison, journaling is a form of svadhyaya, the yogic practice of self-study. She is grateful for a space like Beloved and for the opportunity to nurture both inward reflection and a shared sense of belonging.
Allison Caras
Allison Caras, PhD, has been on the yoga path for over 20 years and believes she has only begun to scratch the surface. She approaches the practice with humility, reverence and a playful curiosity and offers classes and private sessions in the same way. Students are provided with space and time to tap into the present and explore what nourishes them.
Allison is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT500) with Yoga Alliance. She completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training at Yoga District in Washington, DC, the 300-hour yoga teacher and yoga therapy foundations training here at Beloved Yoga, and is currently in the Svastha Yoga & Ayurveda 800-hour Yoga Therapy certification program. She also holds a PhD in Spanish Applied Linguistics from Georgetown University and went on to teach at The George Washington University. During the pandemic, she decided to leave academia and start her own company to promote workday wellness, reduce chronic stress and prevent burnout using the wisdom, science and art of Yoga and Ayurveda. Although she left language teaching and linguistic research behind, she is still passionate about languages and how they can foster human connection and self-reflection.
