Most of us lead lives that reinforce our working at fast-forward speed until we are exhausted and, over time, we feel depleted. We sometimes feel like collapsing into exhaustion. These days feel just too over-scheduled, too busy, too distracted, or perhaps our automatic pilot is on much of the time. We come up with so many plans: new resolutions, new diets, new bucket lists, new commitments, and the constant promises to ourselves to take better care and take more rest. We soon learn that it is not so easy to make time for ourselves, so we don’t.

Restorative Yoga is an antidote to the busy life in fast-forward mode. Restorative Yoga is a gentle yet very effective practice that invites the art of rest and inward awareness. It is simple, easy, and a very potent tool for reducing stress and releasing tension from the body and mind. Restorative Yoga poses are still, supported by props, and held for a long time, often 10 minutes or more! Only 10 minutes of a Restorative yoga pose will change your day, mood, and perspective, both subtly and noticeably. A consistent restorative practice may enhance our feeling of aliveness and balance in our lives.

Sherry will guide you through a deeply nourishing 2-hour workshop, including gentle movement, an introduction to what you may expect in restorative poses, and a discussion of some of the research. Then she will guide you through a relaxing and restorative yoga practice using breathing techniques to soothe the nervous system, facilitating a deeper full body/mind mental and physical release, relaxation, and connecting to awareness of the experience.

We will create space to let go, turn inward, and rest deeply in our own being. As our minds and bodies become calmer and release unnecessary tension we may feel a deep sense of clarity from within.

There will also be time for a journaling exercise, with the opportunity for sharing and discussion. You will need a journal and a pen.

Restoring your body, mind, and spirit amid change is an act of courage, empowerment, and hope. Sherry’s warm, powerful guide will help you honor the changes and spaces in your life with purposeful rest and reflection.
