This 3-hour workshop will explore how trauma-informed yoga, somatic practices, meditation and pranayama can be incorporated into recovery from disordered eating and negative body image. This workshop will serve as an introduction to those who want to work
with clients struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image struggles or practitioners and teachers who would like to dive deeper into supporting themselves on their healing journey.

This workshop will be conducted from the lenses of health at every size, body positivity and inclusivity, social activism through body healing, and trauma-informed practices. Participants of all bodies and abilities are encouraged and welcome.

Topics Covered:
ED 101- what is an ED? What is our role?
Body image, proprioception, and muscular tension
Honoring Sensation: how to understand communication from and with the body
Trauma and ED-informed practices:
Body Scanning
Progressive Muscle relaxation
Movement (medically stable vs. unstable, working with a team vs. OP)
Accessible asana for those in larger bodies.
Extra: ED treatment culture - Intro to how to teach yoga with eating disorders and in treatment centers. (what not to include for safe practices for yourself and clients)



Kat Link

Kat Link is a trauma-informed Somatic Movement and Mindfulness practitioner in Northern Virginia specializing in mind-body connection and integration. Kat has been working in mental health treatment, providing group and individual movement and embodiment sessions since 2018, and is registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-500. Kat began her recovery journey in 2016 and uses this wisdom and professional and academic experience to inform her practice as a recovery mentor and peer support provider. Because of this passion for working with eating disorders, Kat began working in PHP and IOP settings, offering meal support, yoga, and creative expression in 2020. Noticing the need for bilingual and trauma-informed providers in the eating disorder recovery community, Kat began her education in social work and has an expected graduation date of 2026 with an MSW to continue offering services and advocacy for those on their path toward recovery.
