In this Yin & Yoga Nidra class, we will begin by settling the body through mindful static postures in preparation for deeper inquiry into your subtlest layers of being. Where Yin Yoga addresses the needs of the gross physical body, Yoga Nidra provides a safe space in which to explore and experience your true nature, where peace and ease reside. Come dressed for comfort, bring an eye pillow if you have one and enjoy all aspects of these two powerful practices.

Emily Steiner

Emily began practicing yoga in 2001 at Integral Yoga Institute in Manhattan under the teachings of Swami Satchidananda. Immediately she felt more connected, peaceful and resilient and continued to practice many different types of yoga in many settings. Wanting to deepen her understanding of the process that was happening both on and off the mat as a result of yoga, she enrolled in teacher training. Emily is an RYT-500 hour Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Instructor and a C-IAYT Yoga Therapist.

Yoga continues to help Emily see life with clarity and enables her to remain an observer in the midst of a hectic life. Yoga helps her let go and let the change come, to bend and not break.

Emily is inspired and humbled every time she teaches yoga. She loves to see the courage it takes to be on the mat and fully present, and the compassion it takes to be exactly where you are and how you are. Emily’s classes cultivate self-awareness by encouraging her students to step into the powerful position of the observer, which allows us to remain calm and neutral, acting rather than reacting in our life. Emily’s intention as a teacher is to inspire and guide students in a compassionate and nurturing environment in hopes of spreading more light in the world.

Emily believes yoga is the path to greater self-awareness and healing. She is honored to share yoga and its benefits with others. She also loves hiking, having bonfires, knitting, reading, and finding the sacred in the mundane.

Anna Weeks

Anna Bryan has been teaching yoga at Beloved Yoga for close to a decade.  Anna has spent the latter half of that decade leading yin to help others balance their energy polarities to find deep peace and lightness.

Allison Caras

Allison Caras, PhD, has been on the yoga path for about 20 years and believes she has only begun to scratch the surface. She approaches the practice with humility, reverence and a playful curiosity and offers classes in the same way. Students are provided with space and time to tap into the present, explore, and challenge themselves.

Allison is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT500) with Yoga Alliance. She completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training at Yoga District in Washington, DC, and the 300-hour yoga teacher and yoga therapy foundations training here at Beloved Yoga. She also holds a PhD in Spanish Applied Linguistics from Georgetown University and went on to teach at The George Washington University. During the pandemic, she decided to leave academia and start her own company to promote workday wellness and self-care practices to teachers, professional organizations and corporations. Although she left language teaching and linguistic research behind, she is still passionate about languages and how they can foster human connection and self-reflection.
