Mindfulness Painting is an experience of slowly becoming present using a brush with paints to allow yourself to tune into your intuition. When you are present, you access information in your body that doesn’t usually reveal itself during a busy day. Paint, color, and shape are powerful tools that help you to touch a deeper part of yourself. Because this might be your first experience, you are entering a sacred space. It is the place where you connect with your creative source. You allow the brush to guide you. There is no planning. It is spontaneous self-expression. You start by looking at your paints and letting your intuition pick the color that calls you. Then you allow the brush to touch the paper and move wherever it wants to go.

This is an intuitive process where you listen to your inner guidance and respect any marks placed on the paper. The purpose of this exploration is for process and not about what the painting looks like. The process gives voice to an inner knowing when words may or may not be available. The markings on the paper are not to be interpreted. It is an experience that opens you to the freedom of possibilities and is not limited to what you already know.

The afternoon will open up with a short 15-minute yoga practice led by Eleanor, followed by a 45-minute Mindful painting experience with Jody. A second 15-minute yoga practice will follow the painting and the event will close with a 20-minute meditation to process the painting experience.

Open to all. Max 15 people.

Eleanor Ware

Eleanor first began practicing yoga in 2001, and over time she realized the health benefits of a consistent asana practice. She strives to maintain simplicity in her practice and life... a little movement, breath, and a pause. Study to inform the journey. She enjoys learning about the many layers of yoga, and how they may be applied to life off the mat. She believes the practice of yoga brings one closer to their true nature, and that is where the magic is! Her desire is to offer classes that create a safe space for exploration to students. She embodies a joyful spirit in all she does and hopes to spread the joy to others through her practice.

Eleanor completed her 200 and 300-hour Teacher Trainings at Beloved Yoga’s school with Maryam Ovissi. She is an RYT-500 hour Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Instructor. When not practicing yoga, Eleanor can usually be found in nature, spending time with friends and family, and connecting with her faith community. She is a mental health therapist by profession.
