Friday-Sunday, November 8 - 10
CEUs for Yoga Teachers/Yoga Therapists
We invite you to step out of the rhythm of everyday life, hit the ‘pause’ button and reset by immersing yourself in nature, sangha, yoga and art. Maryam Ovissi will lead the weekend programs. Ileana Gonzalez will join us sharing Ayurvedic wisdom and offering Marma* sessions to support friendliness and compassion towards ourselves.
The weekend is based on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra 1.33:
maitri karuna mudita upekshanam sukha duhka punya apunya vishayanam bhavanatah chitta prasadanam
In relationships, the mind becomes purified by cultivating feelings of friendliness towards those who are happy, compassion for those who are suffering, goodwill towards those who are pious, and the skill not to lose your calm center towards the impious. (translation by Maryam Ovissi)
Cleansing/clearing of the mind (citta prasadanam) and mental steadiness (sthiti padam) is attained through developing an attitude of friendliness, compassion, joy and non-judgmental attitudes toward happiness (of others), suffering, virtue, and vice respectively. (translation by A.G. Mohan)
Practices will explore movement, breath, mantra and meditation on four essential bhavas:
~Maitri/Friendliness
~Karuna/Compassion
~Mudita/Joy
~Upeksa/Maintaining your calm center while making wise choices
By the end of the weekend, you will leave feeling renewed and with a creative tool to invite these four bhavas into your daily life.
This weekend is open to everyone and geared towards yoga professionals and those interested in yoga, meditation, mantra and yoga philosophy.
