Join native Japanese speaker, Yuki Riley, and Heather Hagaman for an unforgettable journey to Kyoto, Japan. Kyoto is known as the city of temples and gardens. Travel to Japan with Beloved Yoga for a unique experience as we find a home at a modernized temple lodging and enjoy a daily yoga practice. The theme of this retreat is “Ichi-Go, Ichi-Eh” (once-in-a-lifetime encounter), the principle of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. The retreat combines the perfect combination of yoga and traditional Japanese cultural experiences. We will stay in the modernized temple lodging, Wajun-Kaikan, in the Chion-In Temple, which is the headquarter temple of Jodo-Shu (pure land sect) Buddhism. The temple is within walking distance of the shopping district.

We have curated a week of organized activities and free time to explore the many different areas in and around Kyoto. On the calendar below you will see our organized group activities. The activities in pink are optional but recommended. Participation in the optional activities will require an additional fee. Yuki will be leading these excursions.

What's included:

- Accommodations for 6 nights (all rooms have private bathrooms, A/C and WiFi)

- 4 yoga classes in the morning & 4 in the afternoon
- Cultural programs including Sutra copying meditation, tea ceremony, traditional Japanese sweet-making class, etc.

What's not included:

There are no airports in Kyoto. The closest airport is 1.5 hours away (Osaka). We recommend people to fly into Tokyo, stay a few days and then take the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto.

Price per person:

- single occupancy $3600
- double occupancy $2400

- $500 deposit per person to reserve a spot
- Balance to be paid in full by May 15, 2024

Cancellation Policy:

Deposits are 100% refundable before January 1, 2024, and 50% refundable before March 1, 2024. No refunds will be issued on or after March 1, 2024, for the deposit or the final balance unless your space can be filled with someone from the waiting list. No credits or refunds will be issued if cancellation is received within one month of the retreat start date. If Beloved Yoga must cancel due to insufficient enrollment, your deposit and any paid installment and balance will be refunded in full.

Travel Insurance:

We recommend that international retreat participants take out travel insurance in case of any life situation that may alter your plans. You may consider plans from travelinsure.com, insuremytrip.com, or any other option provided by your credit card, airline, or travel company. Also, note that your health insurance may not provide coverage internationally. Check with your provider and consider additional coverage if necessary. In order to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 5-10 days of placing your initial deposit.

Which airport should I travel to in Japan?

There are no airports in Kyoto. The closest airport is 1.5 hours away in Osaka. We recommend that you fly into Tokyo, stay a few days and then take the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto.

NRT: Outside of Tokyo -> Bullet train (~4hrs) to Kyoto

I understand and agree that I am solely responsible for my activities at Beloved Yoga and that Beloved Yoga assumes no liability for any illnesses or injuries which I may sustain as a result of participating in yoga activities including but not limited to the use of any yoga equipment mats and props or the performance of any particular exercise or series of exercises, yoga practice, or any other activity held at Beloved Yoga or sponsored by Beloved Yoga. I expressly acknowledge on behalf of myself and my heirs that I assume the risk of any and all injuries or illnesses which may occur as a result of participating in any activity at Beloved Yoga, or in any activity that is sponsored by Beloved Yoga. I hereby waive, release, covenant not to sue, discharge and hold harmless Beloved Yoga and all of its employees, officers, directors, independent contractors, agents, servants, representatives, and principals from any and all claims of injury, illness, death, loss or damage which I may sustain related to or arising from any activity at Beloved Yoga to the full extent permitted by federal and state laws or statutes. I expressly acknowledge, understand, and agree that the foregoing waiver, release, and covenant not to sue covers and includes any illness, injury, illness, death, loss or damage related to or arising from COVID 19, sometimes referred to as the novel coronavirus, or any other infectious disease, should I become infected after engaging in any activity at Beloved Yoga or at any other time. I further expressly and voluntarily hereby assume the risk that I may be infected with COVID 19 or infectious disease and affirm that I am solely responsible for the consequences of any such infections.

I also understand that my yoga sessions are non-refundable if I choose not to continue to take private or group yoga classes or training at Beloved Yoga, but can be transferred to another person upon agreement with Beloved Yoga. Beloved Yoga is responsible for providing replacement instructors in the advent of termination or absence. I further acknowledge that Beloved Yoga is not responsible for any personal items lost or stolen while I am participating in activities at Beloved Yoga.
